Notice of Public Hearing Zoning Ordinance Text Amendments

PUBLIC NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on March 25, 2024 at 7:00 p.m., the
Planning Commission for Winfield Township in Montcalm County, Michigan, will hold a public
hearing at the Winfield Township Hall at 15212 Howard City Edmore Road (M-46), Howard
City, Michigan 49329, regarding proposed text amendments to the Winfield Township Zoning
Ordinance. More specifically, the amendments will amend Chapter 3, Section 3.14 concerning
regulations applicable to accessory buildings; amend Chapter 6, Section 6.03 concerning
permissible special land uses in the lakeside residential district; amend Section 6.04(A)(1)
concerning shoreline setback restrictions in the Indian Lake Development; amend Chapter 6,
Section 6.04(G) concerning regulations governing the maximum height of accessory buildings in
the lakeside residential district; amend Chapter 7, Section 7.04 to increase the maximum
permissible height for accessory buildings in the rural residential district; and amend Chapter 12,
Section 12.02 to eliminate language tying setback requirements to the height of buildings in all
districts. Chapter 14 will also be amended to add new Section 14.08 to provide a special land
use review and approval process for accessory buildings not located on a lot with a principal use.

during normal business hours of Monday and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., or by

comments will be accepted by the Winfield Township Planning Commission up until the time of
the public meeting and should be addressed to the Winfield Township Clerk at the above
